IMPORTANT POINTS:
(i)The above table is only meant to serve as an instant reference to various grounds on which retention of quarter is permitted. The retention is subject to certain conditions in each case. As such, it is desirable to refer instructions of Railway Board/CPO quoted against each case for better appreciation.
(ii)Retention of quarter is effective from the following day of occasion i.e. transfer, retirement, death etc.,
(iii)Sanction for retention is to be applied for irrespective of the duration i.e. even a stay of 15 days after the transfer has to be covered with competent authority’s sanction as the same will be treated as ‘un-authorised’ occupation attracting levy of damage rent.
(iv)Requests on grounds of academic or medical shall accompany certificate from school authority or Railway Medical authority respectively.
(v)Requests on academic grounds cover only the academic year in which the transfer takes place.
(vi)Scholastic session is defined as the ‘last day of the examination plus 15 days’.
