HISTORY OF OLD HOSPITAL BUILDING

·The Divisional Headquarters Railway Hospital, Guntakal was started in the year 1908 under MSR Railway with bed strength of 6 beds with 2 Doctors and one compounder and one peon.

·In 1942,the bed strength was raised to 22 beds.

·In 1949 subsequently it was raised to 28.

·In 1951, this hospital started working under Southern Railway Zone.

·In the year 1957 bed strength was raised to 52 beds in the existing TB wards and Matrons office.

·On 2nd October 1959 on Gandhi Jayanthi,the foundation stone of the new hospital building was laid by Dr.P.A.Menon then CMO/S.Railway.

·The hospital started functioning on 20th June 1962 by H.D. Singh then GM /S.Railway with bed strength of 75 beds.

·On the 17th July of 1966 strength was increased to 105 beds by inaugurating the extension of Neonatal, Medical ward and Female surgical wardby Dr.P.A.Menon then CMO/S.Railway .

·In 1977, GTL division came under the control of South Central Railway.

·in the year 1981 bed strength was increased to the present capacity of131 bedswith present strength of staff. The new OPD building was inaugurated on date 25th August 1994.
