ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE OF OPERATING DEPARTMENT

ROLE:
Sr.DOM is the overall in charge of Operating department at divisional level. He/she looks after
(1)Goods operations
(2)Coaching Operations
(3)Safety/General
(4)Planning Assets maintenance blocks
(5)Infrastructure planning at the division,
(6)Others : Preparation of Station Working Rules, co-ordination with other departments/divisions,
Human resource planning and staff management at the divisional level.
Goods
DOM Goods assisted by AOM, plans and executesall goods operations at the divisional level such as loading/unloading, unhindered movement of goods trains for handing over to their destinations, realizing loading targets to increase freight revenue,improve divisional WTR, and optimum and efficient utilization of resources such as locomotives, wagons, crew etc.
Coaching
Aom Coaching looks after the operation of passenger carrying train at the divisional level, monitors punctuality of such coaching trains, mutation of divisional time table and issues related with working tame table.
Safety/General
DOM General looks after safety related issues pertaining to train operation, plans training framework for the staff, arranges for counseling of the staff, seminars and inspections to inculcate safe and rule based operation of trains, and implementation of programs initiated by Government such as Swatchh Bharat, swatchhatha Pakhwada etc
Staff
Staffs of operating department include: sectional TI’s, supervisory SMs, SMs/ASMs, Control office staff, TNCs, Shunting masters and pointsman.
Sectional Tis, Supervisory Station managers are supervisory level cadre of Optg dept, who in their respective jurisdictions viz. sections or stations, guide and counsel their staff in day to day working, and also conduct inspections in their respective jurisdictions.
SM/ASM is the Shift Wise in-charge of the station who is assisted by P.man in dealing with reception and dispatch of trains, granting and obtaining line clear, panel operations and coordinating with control organization for train movement.
Control organization is the nerve center of train operation that is headed by Chief controller. Chc/Stock, Chc/Punctuality and Chc/Goods who plan loading, interchange of trains with neighboring divisions and executes train movements in co-ordination with other departments.
TNCs collects details of trains such as train particulars, vehicle guidance, and forward the same to FOIS/COIS and HQRS for analysis and record purpose.
Shunting Masters and P.men are directly involved in marshalling /shunting, Exchanging all right signals and stabling of coaches and wagons at major yards, way side stations as per train movement.
